Cory Powell

MClin Psych (candidate) | BA Psych

Cory holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science with First Class Honors from the University of Newcastle and is currently a Master candidate in the Master of Clinical Psychology Program at Western Sydney University. Cory has experience providing therapy and assessment for neurodiverse children and adolescents in private practice and most recently has worked at Headspace providing early intervention therapy to adolescents and adults struggling with challenges such as depression and anxiety.

Cory strives to create a warm, safe and non-judgemental environment in which to provide support to his clients and is passionate about supporting his clients with their mental health. Cory ensures that his practice is informed by evidence- regularly engaging in professional development and continued learning. Cory collaborates closely with colleagues and his supervisor to ensure he is providing the best possible quality of care for his clients. Cory has a particular interest in neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety and the link between mental health and chronic pain and autoimmune disorders.

Cory has experience providing neuropsychological assessments including the WISC, WAIS, WIAT and CPT-3.

When he is not at Breakthrough Psychology Practice Cory enjoys playing the saxophone, bouldering, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family.

Types of Presentations: Generalised anxiety, social anxiety, depression, ADHD, difficulty with emotion regulation, stress

Therapeutic Modalities: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
