If you’ve been injured at work or involved in a motor vehicle accident, it’s common to experience stress, anxiety, trauma symptoms, or difficulty coping. At BT Psychology, our clinicians are highly experienced in WorkCover (NSW workers compensation) and CTP (Compulsory Third Party) psychological treatment.
We work closely with GPs, insurers, rehabilitation providers and employers to support your recovery and help you return to work or daily life safely and sustainably.
What do we treat?
Our psychologists provide therapy for a wide range of psychological injuries related to workplace incidents and motor vehicle accidents, including:
-
work‑related stress and burnout
-
anxiety, panic and avoidance
-
trauma and PTSD symptoms
-
depression and low mood
-
adjustment to injury and chronic pain
-
bullying, harassment and workplace conflict
-
driving anxiety after a car accident
All treatment is evidence‑based, trauma‑informed, and aligned with SIRA NSW guidelines.
Are my sessions covered by WorkCover or CTP?
If you have an accepted WorkCover or CTP claim, psychological treatment is usually funded by the insurer when it is considered reasonably necessary for your recovery.
Once approved, you do not pay out of pocket — we bill the insurer directly.
Step‑by‑Step Guide: Starting Psychology Under WorkCover (NSW)
1. Report the injury
Notify your employer as soon as possible. They will lodge the incident with their workers compensation insurer.
2. Visit your GP
Your GP will:
-
Assess your symptoms
-
Complete a Certificate of Capacity
-
Provide a referral to a psychologist
A Mental Health Care Plan is not required for WorkCover.
3. Receive your claim number
The insurer will assign you a claim number and a case manager.
4. Contact BT Psychology
Provide us with:
-
Your claim number
-
Insurer name
-
Case manager details
-
GP referral
We take it from here.
5. We submit an AHTR (Allied Health Treatment Request)
We prepare and submit the AHTR to request approval for psychological treatment.
6. Approval and sessions
Insurers typically approve an initial block of sessions (often 6–8). We bill the insurer directly for approved sessions.
7. Ongoing treatment
As you progress, we provide:
-
Treatment updates
-
Progress reports
-
Requests for further sessions when clinically appropriate
Step‑by‑Step Guide: Starting Psychology Under CTP (Motor Vehicle Accident)
1. Lodge a CTP claim
Contact the CTP insurer and obtain your claim number.
2. See your GP
Your GP assesses your psychological symptoms and provides a referral to a psychologist.
3. Contact BT Psychology
We request approval for psychological treatment on your behalf.
4. Begin therapy
Once approved, sessions are funded by the insurer.
